PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

In considering the characteristics and skills that members bring to the TCRB, it is necessary that they all share passion and patience for the mission of the organization. With this basic qualification satisfied, appointments should seek to achieve a membership that represents the following professional skills and experiences:

Grant Writing

Has served as the principle investigator on public grants, prepared requests for private grants and is familiar with the responsibilities for administering and evaluating the impact of funded projects.and can help develop grant opportunities for the organization.

Fundraising

Has conducted fundraising campaigns for charitable organizations and is familiar with effective solicitations strategies.and can help develop a charitable revenue streams for the organization.

Event Planning

Has organized trade shows, charity events or conferences.and can help conduct annual events and training programs for the organization.

Marketing

Is experienced with market research, has conducted market studies and developed and implemented marketing strategies.and can help the organization develop strategic positions in the market that promote its mission.

Communications

Has been responsible for communication strategies for nonprofit organizations, private firms or governmental entities.and can provide leadership in collecting, assimilating and distributing information to internal and external customers and a variety of stakeholders.

Program Evelation

Is familiar with methodologies for evaluating the impact of training programs.and can provide guidance in assessing and recommending promising programs and best practices.

NPO Management

Has operated a nonprofit organization and is familiar with the roles and responsibilities of nonprofit boards.and can ensure the organization faithfully discharges its fiduciary responsibilities.

Financial

Is a CPA, has served as the CFO or has other related financial experience especially in nonprofit organizations.and can help manage the financial responsibilities of the organization.

Legal

Is a practicing or retired attorney with experience in criminal prosecution or defense or in corporate law (especially with a specialization nonprofit law) or related field.and can help guide the organization with questions concerning laws that relate to the offender population or to the organization.

Mental Health

Is a psychologist, psychiatrist or PhD level mental health professional with experience with the offender population and/or their families..and can guide the organization with projects that have a direct impact on the mental health of inmates, probationers, parolees and/or their families.

Social Work

Is a licensed practicing social worker with experience with the offender population and/or their families.and can guide the organization with projects that have a direct impact on the networks of public, community and faith based services available to inmates, probationers, parolees and/or their families.

Technology

Has advanced computer skills especially in developing and maintaining internet websites.and can served as the webmaster for the organization's website.

Small Business

Has owned and/or operated a small business (under 500 employees).and can provide management and project implementation experience to the organization.

CEO or Senior Exective

Has served as a upper level executive of a large corporation (over 500 employees).and can provide strategic leadership to the organization and access company resources.

Volunteer Management

Has been responsible for managing volunteers (as a volunteer or as a staff member of a nonprofit organization, private firm or governmental entity).and can provide leadership to the organization in its routine function of mobilizing volunteer resources to assist TDOC and BOPP achieve their missions.

Ministry

Has served in a leadership role with a ministry that serves inmates, individuals on community supervision and/or their families.and can represent the faith based community in the activities for the organization.

Community Policing

Has served in a leadership role with a community policing effort and can represent the law-enforcement community in the activities of the organization.
