Over 4,000 volunteers contribute well over 150,000 hours in service every year to Tennessee prisons and community supervision programs.  Based on estimates of the value of volunteer time by The Independent Sector, this service represents an annual contribution of over $2.7 million to the Department of Corrections and the Board of Probation and Parole.

Not only is this a measure of a committed base of community volunteers, it shows very clearly that Tennessee cares about its men and women behind bars. The organization responsible for training and coordinating these volunteers is the Tennessee Community Resource Board (TCRB).
